The OPP has made an arrest in connection with an incident involving a firearm.
On July 12, 2020, shortly before 1:30 a.m., officers with the Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a domestic disturbance and shots fired at a home on Highway 62 in Tudor and Cashel Township.
The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Tactics and Rescue (TRU) Team attended the home. The individual had fled the scene, but the firearms were located and seized. There were no injuries in the incident and no concern for public safety.
A 24-year-old resident of Marmora and Lake Township attended the Central Hastings Detachment today. He has been charged with:
- Assault – Spousal
- Assault with a weapon
- Careless use of a firearm
- Breach of firearms regulations – store firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
The accused, who cannot be identified in order to protect the identity of the victim, is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 13, 2020.
