What a difference a year and a virus pandemic make when it comes to jobs and unemployment.
According to Statistics Canada the Kingston-Pembroke Economic Region, of which the Quinte region is a part, had an
unemployment rate of 11.8% last month.
In June of last year the rate in this region was much lower at just under 5%.
Meanwhile the national unemployment rate was 12.3% and Ontario’s was 12.2%.
June saw a significant number of people returning to work as COVID-19 restrictions began easing across the country.
