Corrections officers at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston have made a significant seizure of contraband.
Two packages were found at the prison on May 16, one outside the facility’s fence and one inside the perimeter of the maximum-security unit.
Officers found about 448 grams of tobacco, 661 grams of marijuana, 71 grams of crystal meth, 34 grams of shatter, 30 grams of heroin along with various pills, vape pens, ceramic blades, cell phones and phone accessories.
Authorities are estimating the total institutional value of the seizures to be close to $191,800.
Insitution staff are investigating the packages, along with the OPP’s Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad.
