The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has reached a tentative deal with unionized support workers, whose collective bargaining agreement ran out last September.
The deal, which is expected to be ratified by the end of this month, will be in place through August of 2022.
The workers, who are represented by CUPE Local 1022 hold various roles within the board including administrative and custodial staff, early childhood educators, educational assistants, library technicians and more.
In a press release Wednesday CUPE Local 1022 president Jo-Anne White says the process was “challenged by forced online bargaining, but both management and the union were committed to reaching a deal that will enhance the working life” of union members.
Board Chair Lucille Kyle noted that support staff are a key to student success and thanked them for their continued service.
Financial details and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
