The head of the Quinte and District Association of Realtors says while home sales numbers weren’t great last month, she’s confident things will improve moving forward out of the pandemic.
Q-DAR reported a 49% drop in dollar sales on homes for April, compared to the same month in 2019, along with a 52.7% drop in the number of homes sold.
But Heather Plane tells Quinte News that the average price of a home went up 5.9% compared to April of last year, to just over $383,000, which is a positive sign and hopes that trend will continue into the fall.
She says while not being allowed to hold open houses has been a challenge, realtors are still allowed to give one-on-one tours but must follow a number of precautions, including making sure people who go into homes haven’t been travelling.
Plane adds that local realtors will be adapting to the changing times through the use of technology as well.
