The Grace Inn Shelter in Belleville is a busy place even with COVID-19 restrictions in place.
The pandemic restrictions have cut the number of people the shelter is able to accommodate from 21 to about 16.
Chair of the board Jodie Jenkins says some volunteers have decided not to participate during the virus outbreak, meaning staff members are extra busy.
Jenkins adds, “We’ve been working with agencies and Hastings County to protect staff and our guests. Actually we’re one of the few, or only, ones open for food programs. They’ve slowed down or closed. It means an increase in business and calls … staff have been working to find housing for the homeless people who use the shelter.”
