Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer says there are now 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in repatriated Canadians staying in quarantine at CFB Trenton.
Dr. Theresa Tam gave an update early Thursday afternoon, saying that nationwide there are 772 cases and nine deaths related to the virus, here in Canada.
Speaking on CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker Show Thursday morning, Dr. Ethan Toumishey says while the number of cases at 8 Wing is increasing, there should be very little concern about the virus spreading to the greater off-base community..

As of Thursday morning there are no lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the greater Quinte community and Dr. Toumishey says all of the 30-plus “probable” cases involved a recent travel history.
A government spokesperson tells Quinte News any asymptomatic travellers are scheduled to leave quarantine on Tuesday (March 24) and that departure dates for travellers currently in isolation will depend on a range of factors including close contact exposure, timing of onset of symptoms and timing of positive testing.
