At a special meeting earlier this afternoon, Prince Edward County Council approved several temporary special measures to facilitate the COVID-19 pandemic response:
- A by-law delegating certain financial and decision-making authority to the chief administrative officer (CAO) where it may be necessary and expedient to take action.
- A by-law giving the CAO the ability to address minor or routine planning matters to ensure service continuity and reduce what must come before Council during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- A by-law amendment permitting electronic participation in open meetings of Council and its advisory committees and boards during emergencies and on matters critical to community welfare.
Council has cancelled tomorrow night’s Committee of Adjustment/Public Planning Council meeting as well as the Council and Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for March 24 and March 26, respectively. The next scheduled Council meeting is Tuesday, April 7.
