The mayor of Grafton is stepping down and retiring.
Alwnick/Haldimand Township officilas say Mayor John Logel has decided to retire due to health reasons effective immediately.
Logel says the he believes the decision is what’s best for himself, his family and the community.
Township council is thanking Logel for his dedication over the past three years and says Deputy Mayor Gail Latchford will take his place, with Councillor Sherry Gibson taking on the Deputy Mayor’s job for the remainder of the term.
The councillor position is set to be declared vacant at a council meeting on January 9.
