It’s been years in the making, but this is finally the year that the Belleville Police Service moves into its new home at the corner of College and Sidney streets.
The police force is set to take ownership of its new, larger and more modern headquarters, in the spring.
Police Chief Ron Gignac tells Quinte News it’s going to make a massive impact on policing in the city.
Not only will moving into the new police headquarters make life more comfortable and convenient for Belleville Police officers and staff, it will also allow the force to make some major upgrades to its technology.
Looking ahead to 2020, Chief Gignac says those technological upgrades are going to be game changers, not just for officers locally, but potentially across the province and beyond, with immediate access to investigative and community support applications and more.
Gignac says the new tech will streamline the investigative and support process and more specifics about the in-cruiser tech upgrades will be coming out in the weeks ahead.
