Work continues to upgrade and improve the Millennium Trail in Prince Edward County and a series of public meetings are being held next week to get feedback on some proposed rest areas.
The rest areas will be similar to one on West Street in Wellington, which has been there for three years and new ones could include information kiosks, bike parking or repair stands, picnic tables, seasonal washrooms, or other amenities.
The feedback will be submitted to the trail committee and presented to council early in the new year, with the plan of construction starting in spring 2020.
The meeting details are as follows:
- Tuesday December 10 @ 7:00 p.m. (Picton Town Hall – 2 Ross Street)
- Review rest areas at the Lake Street trailhead (next to the LCBO parking lot) and County Road 49 trailhead (near Picton Golf Course)
- Wednesday December 11 @ 7:00 p.m. (Hillier Town Hall – 18560 Loyalist Parkway)
- Review rest areas in Hillier (where trail crosses Station Road) and near Consecon (on Salem Road where the trail crosses Highway 33)
- Sunday December 15 @ 7:00 p.m. (Bloomfield Town Hall – 289 Bloomfield Main Street)
- Review the rest area where the trail crosses Stanley Street
