Provincial Police have been called in to investigate a serious assault at the Joyceville Institution.
It happened around 4:30 on Sunday afternoon, with the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad responding to reports of a 43 year-old inmate being assaulted and suffering life-threatening injuries.
No other details about the incident were released, but police say the victim was taken to hospital by ambulance and that the Criminal Investigations Branch is now investigating.
