An investigation into a series of closed door meetings by Belleville Council last year has determined no violations had been committed.
Amberly Gavel Limited had been asked to look into all closed meetings involving discussions about the Memorial Arena, over the past 10 years, but it was determined that complaints that could be deemed as “research expeditions” would not be allowed to be filed.
With that, the complainant changed the scope of the investigation to between March 26 and April 9 of 2018 and the investigation found no issues with the conduct of council.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk noted that due to the timing of the investigation, it was centred around the last council and not the current one.
