Residents and business owners in part of Quinte West are being asked to limit their water use tonight, following a watermain break this morning.
The pipeline, near the corner of Nicholas Street and Water Street in Trenton, ruptured early this morning and is affecting residents on Telephone Road, Stockdale Road and other areas nearby, leading up to the McCurdy car dealership.
Water users in the area might notice discoloured water and air in the system, but city staff say water is safe to drink.
Repairs are scheduled to begin at 10:00 tonight and customers in the area are being asked to limit their water use, while also being reminded there may be changes to water colour and pressure, which could continue for a brief time once repairs are complete.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the intersection of Water Street and Nicholas Street tonight, as lane restrictions will be in place.
