A 47-year-old man from East York is facing multiple charges following an incident on Friday in Welcome.
Northumberland OPP have charged Miles Barton with arson – damage to property, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose, carry firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
Police responded to a hotel in Welcome for a report of a fire in one of the occupied rooms Friday morning before 8:30.
Barton fled through a back window with what appeared to be two handguns.
He was arrested a short time later and taken to hospital for minor injuries.
Barton was held for a bail hearing in Cobourg court today (August 6).
