A Trent Hills man is facing charges of theft under $5,000, assault with a weapon, causing a disturbance, resist of a peace officer, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and assault of a peace officer, according to police.
On Tuesday, shortly after 11:00 p.m., officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the OPP arrived at Victoria Street in the Village of Hastings after receiving information that an intoxicated male walked onto a resident’s front yard and stole a lawnmower.
Christopher Morgan, 59, of Trent Hills was arrested and charged after being identified as the suspect.
Morgan allegedly brandished his knife in a confrontation with police. He resisted arrest and continued to act aggressively before officers were able to take him into custody.
Morgan is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on July 31, 2019.
