Game 1 of the AHL’s North Division semi-final goes to the Belleville Senators.
Igor Sokolov and Angus Crookshank scored second period goals and Mads Sogaard turned away 31 shots as the B-Sens held on to edge the Cleveland Monsters 2-1.
It was Sokolov’s first of the playoffs. He says they have to keep the win in perspective.
Cleveland pushed back in the third period outshooting Belleville 16-6 but the 6’7″ Sogaard stood tall.
Crookshank says despite the win there’s work to do.
Game 2 is also at the CAA Arena Friday at 7 p.m. then it’s on to Cleveland for the remainder of the best-of-five Calder Cup series.
