Residents in Hastings Highlands who have been severely affected by recent flooding are now eligible to apply for some support from the provincial government.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has activated the Disaster Recovery Assistance Program to provide assistance for emergency expenses and costs of repairs or replacement of essential property, that are not covered by insurance.
The program applies to a primary residence and its basic contents, or to a small business, farm, or not-for-profit organization.
Residents will be able to apply through September 26.
To find out if you’re eligible you should first speak to your insurance provider, then review the map and program guidelines, or call 1-844-780-8925.
Additionally, you can email disasterassistance@ontario.ca for more information.
