Road and water issues in the area

ALERT FROM CRAMAHE TOWNSHIP

Trenear is closed between Trent Valley Rd and County Road 2, East of Colborne until a comprehensive assessment of the road can be undertaken.

The road is marked and barricaded. The closure does not affect any residences.

Other roads that are affected are Burbridge, Jakobi, Ventress at Little Lake, CN Cross Rd at Blyth Park Rd, Chapman, Cochrane, Dingman, Gillespie & Wilce Rd.

Operations staff are patrolling all Cramahe roads to prioritize problem areas for repair.

Roads staff continue to do restorative work throughout the weekend.

Cramahe Township is experiencing a tremendous number of road complaints due to flooding conditions and gravel road washouts. The warmer weather and rain last night (March 14) has caused a lot of gravel roads to wash out.

Operations Manager Jeff Hoskin reports that roads staff has been steaming culverts and opening ditches for the last couple of weeks trying to keep up to the water flow but last night caused some damage to the roadways.

Staff is out endeavoring to keep water running where it’s supposed to and repair washed out roads.

There has been some high water levels the last few days because of the spring temperatures, and local officials are reminding residents to do what they can to prevent flooding.

Some culverts are experiencing blockages due to snow and ice.

Crews are working in area municipalities to deal with nuisance flooding that can come from the blockages and residents are reminded to drive with caution.
