The jury and others involved in the Malcolm Copeland second degree murder trial saw grisly crime scene photos Wednesday in a Milton courtroom.
Copeland, 45, is on trial after the stabbing death of Belleville native 32-year-old Elizabeth Nugent in her Burlington apartment in October of 2014.
The pair were in a relationship and worked and lived together although some say Nugent intended to end the relationship.
According to InsideHalton.com, the court saw several photos of Nugent’s body, naked, lying face down across her bed.
One of the pictures showed a bloody box cutter in the open position.
A witness for the Crown who lived next door to Nugent’s apartment said he heard a female voice asking for help and he contacted the building superintendent who contacted police.
There was a four hour standoff before police could enter the apartment.
Copeland has pleaded not guilty and his lawyer maintains the death was a result of Copeland acting in self defence.
The trial continues.
