Brighton council is expected to decide how best to handle an upgrade to Memorial Park in the downtown at its meeting Tuesday evening.
Two tenders came in to build a new stage and washrooms in the park and staff is recommending the low bid from Jeffrey G. Wallans Construction be accepted at almost $237,000.
Including money already spent in the park, the project will be about $63,000 over the $200,000 budget.
Staff is recommending the overage be taken from an almost one million dollar reserve fund or borrowed internally to be paid back over 5 years.
