The Eastern Ontario Regional Network is advocating for small local water systems to serve clusters of properties without connecting to larger grids.
Prince Edward County Committee of the Whole received a presentation from Lisa Severson, Director of Communications for EORN, during Thursday’s meeting.
During the presentation, Severson advocated for the localized water solution, claiming they can be set up cheaper with less infrastructure, enable development in areas that are expensive to connect to a main grid, and encourage higher density and efficient use of land.
Each system would serve a small handful of properties.
The systems use existing technology that more centralized systems use, just on a smaller scale.
The committee accepted the presentation, but took no immediate action.
