A recent report to Belleville city council is predicting a prosperous future related to the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
The report by Director of Recreation Culture and Community Services Mark Fluhrer says the total revenues related to the Yardmen arena for the next eight years sits close to $6 million and for the next 13 years at $10 million.
Fluhrer says it’s not just about hockey, the overall upgrade to the Centre “makes Belleville a better place to live.”
Fluhrer says there is now an opportunity to bring major shows to the city.

The report predicts an economic impact on Belleville’s community and the surrounding areas at $29 million per year with $20 million attributed to the Belleville Senators. It says that since 2012, when the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre opened, the city increased its revenues by more than $1.2 million a year while increasing low cost and free services such as a walking track, seniors centre, and youth drop-in centre.
