With weather conditions warming and a lack of precipitation, the Belleville Fire Department has put a partial burn ban in effect, bans also in effect in Quinte West and Prince Edward County.
Fire Chief Mark MacDonald says because of the dry conditions the burning of brush piles and land clearing fires is not permitted.
Small, attended, campfires and burn barrels are OK, but anyone burning those fires should have water nearby to extinguish flames and dampen the ground.
Residents in all three municipalities are reminded that a permit is required for all outdoor burning.
All of the bans are in place until further notice, with Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan telling Quinte News the ban in that city could be lifted sometime next week, with some rain in the forecast.
