With any luck, the Prince Edward County Fire Department will have a new tanker before the end of the year.
County council approved the purchase of a tanker from Dependable Emergency Vehicles of Brampton to replace a 27-year-old one.
Fire Chief Scott Manlow told those in chambers the average delivery time is between 275 and 300 days and he hopes to have the tanker by the end of the year.
Council had budgeted $345,000 for the purchase of the 3,000 gallon tanker.
Chief Manlow says the purchase price came in at $278, 700 plus taxes.
