A void was left with the departure of the Belleville Bulls in April 2015. Not only hockey at a high level, but community support and sponsorship.
The Belleville Senators have not only filled that void, they have exceeded it.
At Friday night’s sold out game against the Toronto Marlies, the team announced they surpassed $100,000 donated to local charities, through the Sens Foundation 50/50 draw.
COO Rob Mullowney says $100,000 was the goal at the start of the season.
Mullowney says it has exceeded expectations
The Belleville General and Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundations, the United Way of Quinte and The Children’s Foundation have all benefited from the 50/50.
On Friday February 9th, the 50/50 passed $10,650, for the winner and that same amount to The Sens Foundation. That works out to just under $5.00 per person spent in the draw.
Mullowney says helping the food bank, local hockey teams, school visits and the upcoming Fan Fest are all different ways the Sens are supporting the Bay of Quinte.
