Council in Prince Edward County will hear about the Ministry of Transportation’s plans for the rehabilitation of the Norris Whitney Bridge.
Project Manager Glenn Higgins will appear in council chambers on Thursday afternoon.
The report presented by Higgins identifies a number of existing issues with the bridge including major rehabilitation to the bridge deck. He notes the structure itself is in generally good condition.
The proposed solution is to twin the bridge, adding one lane in each direction.
The MTO would also replace the asphalt and do patch repairs of the concrete on the deck surface and replace expansion joints.
Following the deputation, the next steps will include refining any alternatives, completing the analysis and evaluating the options and then selecting the preferred option for the project going forward.
Council meets at 1 p.m. at Shire Hall.
