Quinte Health Care has received an award for its dedication to organ and tissue donation.
The Trillium Gift of Life Network has presented the organization with a Provincial Conversion Rate Award, for meeting, or exceeding the network’s conversion rate target of 58%.
In 2016/17 100% of potential donors referred by QHC went on to give the gift of life.
Staff from all areas of the hospital are being credited for doing their part in helping patients and families work through the “highly-emotional process of organ donation”.
Province-wide there are 27 hospitals receiving the award this year and more than 1,500 people awaiting life-saving organ transplants.
