More details have come out in the fatal collision between a train and a cyclist in Cobourg.
Around 6 p.m, emergency crews were called to the D’Arcy Street crossing where, according to the Peterborough Examiner, a male driving an electric bicycle was hit.
The cyclist was travelling northbound and went across the railway tracks, while crossing warning lights and bells were active and the gates were down.
He ended up in the oncoming path of a westbound VIA rail passenger train and he succumbed to the injuries he suffered in the collision.
The man’s name is not being released.
The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
