A construction contract has been awarded for work on the Glen Ross Swing Bridge and Lock 7 rehabilitation project.
Facca Incorporated, which specializes in bridge construction projects and is based in Windsor, will begin work on the site mid-November.
Before that work starts, the company has submitted environmental and emergency plans for site management, which still have to be approved.
A firm closure date will be announced once those site plans are approved.
Parks Canada says a pedestrian bridge will be put in place, once the swing bridge closes and a small parking lot will be built on the north side of the bridge, for anyone who needs to cross frequently.
