Napanee OPP officers were called to 267 incidents over the Labour Day long weekend and Highway Safety Division personnel issued 614 tickets.
Here are some of the highlights from the busy weekend:
Man found in trunk during 401 traffic stop
Napanee OPP found a man in the trunk of a car, during a 401 traffic stop, early Sunday morning.
Officers noticed a car using the emergency turnaround near Palace Road, just after midnight and pulled the car over.
Two people were inside the car, along with some prescription medications and knives and the man driving was arrested, because his license was suspended.
When police opened the trunk, they found another man hiding inside and arrested him as well.
The driver 21 year-old Kyle Hogan of Cornwall is charged with breaching bail conditions, while the man in the trunk, 21 year-old Scott Robinson of Cornwall, is charged with three counts of breaching probation and two counts of breaching bail conditions.
Both were held for court appearances in Kingston.
Suspicious fire behind Napanee car dealership
Napanee OPP are investigating a suspicious long weekend fire.
Officers were called to a fire behind the Boyer Chevrolet dealership on Highway 41, just after midnight Saturday morning, where a trailer had been destroyed in the blaze.
The investigation is ongoing, but police are asking anyone who might have information to contact them or Crimestoppers.
No other information, or suspect descriptions were released.
Cocaine seized from speeding driver
A man from Quebec is facing some charges after a long weekend traffic stop on the 401.
Napanee OPP stopped a speeding car near the Marysville Road exit on Saturday night and found about 19 grams of cocaine and almost $4,500 in cash on the driver.
31 year-old Kyle Davey of La Peche, Quebec had his car towed and was arrested at the scene.
He’s charged with drug possession and possession of property obtained by crime.
He was later released on a promise to appear in Napanee Court on November 7th.
Pair from Ottawa area arrested during traffic stop
Two people from the Ottawa area were arrested during a traffic stop on the 401 this past weekend.
Police pulled over a car in Tyendinaga Township on Friday evening and found the driver was wanted on warrants by Ottawa Police.
Meanwhile his passenger gave a fake name, but was also found to be breaching release conditions, so both were taken into custody.
The driver, 34-year-old Lane Campbell of North Dundas, was taken in on the warrants and handed over to Ottawa police.
The passenger, 38-year-old Amanda Lawrence of Ottawa, was charged with six counts of breaching bail conditions and two counts of breaching probation.
She was held for a weekend court date in Napanee.
Woman charged with leaving accident scene
A 53-year-old Marysville woman has been charged after a single car crash yesterday.
Napanee OPP responded to a single vehicle crash in Tyendinaga Township early Monday morning, where a volunteer firefighter had spotted a light blue Chrysler 200 and its occupants in a ditch, on Melrose Road.
Police say a black pickup truck took the driver away before they arrived, but an investigation led to Corinne Osborne of Marysville.
Osborne is charged with failing to report an accident and the investigation is continuing.
