A Trent Hills man is facing some serious charges, after an incident in Seymour Township, on Tuesday.
Officers were called to a report of an assault with a weapon at a seasonal residence on a resort on Coles Point Road.
They found a woman suffering from serious injuries who was taken to hospital for treatment.
Seventy-two- year-old Terrance George Elsom was arrested at the scene, but also taken to hospital for treatment and was held in custody after being discharged by medical personnel.
Elsom is facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault and remains in custody.
The Northumberland Crime Unit is looking into the case, under the direction of Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Staff Sergeant Paul Rosato.
