Brighton’s planning committee has denied a rezoning application for a property at the corner of Main Street and Empire Boulevard.
A numbered company had proposed putting up a 10-unit condominium building there, but councillors unanimously denied the request, citing concerns of area residents who felt the building would be too big.
Councillor Brian Ostrander tells Quinte News the committee felt that smaller, single-unit homes, similar to ones already in that area, would have been a better fit.
There’s currently a construction storage building on that piece of land, with a church to the north and single homes to the east and south.
