Officials with Northumberland County have unveiled the plans for an updated Golden Plough Lodge long term care facility, to replace the existing home, on Burnham Street in Cobourg.
The plans include concept drawings, the hiring of architects and project managers and an official design and build deal, with a cost of just over $40 million.
The new GPL will be a 151 bed home, with Northumberland County looking at design options that could accommodate future growth, if the province gives the OK.
It would be built on county-owned land, just west of the existing building and would have a mix of semi-private and basic rooms, with a campus-style site plan that includes a park-like setting, with trails connecting to other amenities.
The facility is expected to be completed by 2025 and will adhere to the province’s new standards for long term care facilities.
