It’s a big week at Loyalist College, as convocation ceremonies get underway Thursday.
The School of Health, Human and Justice Studies and half of the School of Applied Sciences, Skills and Technology will graduate on Thursday, while the rest of the Applied Sciences, Skills and Technology students will graduate Friday, along with the School of Business and School of Media, Arts and Design.
Loyalist President Dr. Anne Marie Vaughan tells Quinte News it’s “the most exciting time of the year” and even more special, as the college celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Students in the School of Continuing Education will also graduate on Friday.
The college will also present four honourary diplomas to its guest speakers this week.
Those recipients include current NHL coach Marc Crawford, 8 Wing Trenton Base Commander Colonel Colin Keiver, Foot Locker Canada Human Resources Manager Rob Huddleston and Starboard Communication’s Paul Ferguson.
Dr. Vaughan says it was important to include some local flavour in the ceremonies, especially with the college celebrating its 50th anniversary and the City of Belleville celebrating its 200th.
Crawford will be the guest speaker for the 10:00 a.m. ceremony on Thursday, with Colonel Keiver speaking at the afternoon graduation.
Huddleston is the morning speaker on Friday, while Ferguson will address grads that afternoon.
