A Belleville-based pair of teachers at Queen Victoria Public School has been recognized nationally for their “remarkable educational achievements and commitment to preparing students for a digital and innovation-based economy”.
Sheryl Parker and Susan Sewell-Charles run a family-based and holistic outdoor adventure class, emphasizing connections to the environment, global citizenship and local community.
The Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence includes cash prizes of $1,000 at the regional level and another $5,000 at the national level, to be used for equipment, resource materials, teaching aids and more.
Each recipient also gets a pin, along with a letter and certificate signed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
