Flooded fields and muddy fields are holding up spring planting in the Quinte area.
It’s very early but it takes more than a week after the heavy rains stop to dry out the fields.
Director of Grain Farmers of Ontario District 13, Lloyd Crowe, says it will need seven to 10 days to dry the ground

Crowe says the winter wheat has not drowned and seems to be doing alright “which means there’s at least something growing the the fields.”
He says it’s frustrating for the farmers.
Crowe adds they want the rain to stop but the last thing they want is “the drought of last year.”
