This Wednesday will be an important day for many Canadians.
That’s when the seventh annual Bell Let’s Talk Day will happen across the country.
The event is an ongoing initiative to help minimize or eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illness and allow people to share their stories on mental health.
Bell will generously donate five cents to mental health initiatives for every text message, and long distance call made by Bell subscribers.
Many celebrities such as TSN’s Michael Landsberg, comedians Howie Mandel and Mary Walsh, musician Serena Ryder and Olympian Clara Hughes, among many others, will be heavily involved in the discussion.
Executive Director of the Hastings & Prince Edward Canadian Mental Health Association Sandie Sidsworth says the money raised locally will be spread around the area’s mental health agencies.
Sidsworth adds that this cause and mental health as a whole is something everyone should be aware of.
You can use social media to get the word out with this initiative. Tweet out #BellLet’sTalk and share the Bell Let’s Talk image on Facebook on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
