A rally aimed at putting an end to gender-based violence gets underway in Picton next week.
Take Back the Night events are a world-wide initiative and aim to empower women with the mission of ending sexual, relationship, and domestic violence in all forms.
Picton’s rally takes place on October 19.
Alternatives For Women Executive Director Rhano Boutilier says it’s imperative for women to feel safe in every community.
The event begins with a meal at 5:30 p.m. at the Picton Town Hall at Ross and King streets in Picton. The march gets underway at 7 p.m.
Belleville held its Take Back the Night event in September with about 50 participants attending.
