The Bay of Quinte Golf Club is hoping its new nineteenth hole will become a huge draw for the region.
Nineteen (XIX) Restaurant and Bar held its official grand opening Tuesday afternoon at its location along the scenic north side of the grounds adjacent to the 18th hole.
Officials, dignitaries and friends all gathered in celebration to toast one of the area’s oldest golf clubs in its endeavor.
Golf club owner Roger Lichty said he and the staff are overwhelmed by the incredible show of community support.
During his speech Lichty said he wants the restaurant to draw not only golfers but everyone who enjoys great cuisine.
General manager Marc Ray echoed Lichty’s sentiments in an interview that Nineteen is a place where you can get high quality food. “If you’re looking for something of higher quality we are a great choice,” he said.
The menu was praised as having something for golfers and those who enjoy fine dining.
Lichty pointed to all of the fine dining spots in the region particularly in the County adding there is always room for one more. He said they look forward to seeing everyone in town enjoying themselves at Nineteen.
Executive chef Chris Harvey who worked in the County prior to Nineteen said the goal is to become a destination spot like the County.
The new location replaced the old restaurant and clubhouse on the south side of the course.
Lichty said the expansion will continue there as well.
Lichty said it wouldn’t be possible without everyone who worked on Nineteen including Bel-Con Construction, MacInroy-Maines Construction, Hollandale Landscaping and Pace Design. He also commended the City of Quinte West for a pleasant and accommodating staff during the process.
Dignitaries on hand to congratulate the club were: Quinte West mayor Jim Harrison; councillor Sally Freeman; councillor Allan DeWitt; councillor Karen Sharpe; councillor Councillor Rob MacIntosh; Belleville City councillor Garnet Thompson on behalf of mayor Taso Christopher; Suzanne Andrews for the Quinte West Chamber; Chamber president Cindy Dow on behalf of Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis and Northumberland-Quinte West MPP Lou Rinaldi and Tawnya Smith on behalf of Prince Edward Hastings MPP Todd Smith.
