Hastings-Quinte paramedic Kayla Boisvert is sharing her appreciation with the community, after breaking her silence regarding her ordeal in the B.C. wilderness.
Boisvert went missing in late July after attending a music festival in Salmo, prompting an extensive search that mobilized search teams, police, and festival attendees, while garnering international attention and concern.
The Trenton resident admitted she did not know if she would ever make it back home.
“I was taken into the care of BC paramedics. They kept me safe, brought me to the hospital in Trail, where they took really good care of me there. My family, who I’m so grateful for, flew to help find me.”

Boisvert expressed overwhelming gratitude to the paramedics, hospital staff, and search and rescue teams who helped locate her.
She also credited her two brothers, who flew out west after a local GoFundMe campaign raised more than $20,000 to support search efforts.
“I’m just taking it day by day. I don’t want to share what happened yet. I know it’s something I want to do. I know it’s going to help people, but I got to process it still—like, it just happened.”
