Those hoping for a new and wider swing bridge over the Murray Canal south of Brighton will have to wait a
while longer.
The federal government, which owns the bridge and canal, is putting the job out to tender for a second time.
The first tender call to build a 2 lane bridge, with traffic lights, attracted only one tender.
More than one bid is needed.
At the Trent Port Marina official opening Saturday, Bay of Quinte riding MP Neil Ellis, said a second tender was put out next week.
Previous estimates put the cost of the project at between 8 and 10 million dollars.
A loud outcry from people and politicians in Quinte West, Brighton, Prince Edward County, and Belleville forced the federal government to change its original plans for the bridge, which were to build a less expensive one lane bridge with traffic lights.
