It seems scammers are using robocalls to try and take advantage of Quinte area residents again.
A concerned caller to Quinte News says he got a robocall this afternoon from the Canada Revenue Service, saying he owed money and that his house would be foreclosed on if he didn’t come up with the cash.
The caller also said a warrant had been issued for the victim’s arrest.
Local police forces remind you that the Canada Revenue Agency, not service, is the legitimate financial body for the federal government and they don’t typically contact you over the phone.
If you’ve received a scam call you want to report, contact the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre. You should only call police if you’ve actually been bilked out of money.
