Hastings-Quinte joint social services committee has taken more steps to get rid of a number of its single family houses.
In a bid to cut costs and become more efficient, the social services department will sell 47 single family units and replace them with 50 new multi-residential units in Belleville and Trenton ward of Quinte West.
The joint social services committee is recommending that a realtor be hired to help sell off the houses.
Executive director Steve Gatward says it’s a nine-year plan.
The committee is recommending a “notice to vacate ” be given to the present tenants.
The recommendations go to Hastings County council for approval.
