Children out on spring break and spring’s fast-flowing rivers don’t mix.
Quinte Conservation is reminding parents to keep chidren away from waterways, including lakes and rivers where snow and ice are in dangerous condition. Spokesperson Jennifer May-Anderson says the strong spring currents, unstable ice, and slippery riverbanks can be dangerous for children. The Quinte Conservation website has lots of activity sheets for children from kindergarten to grade six for spring break fun.
