It was a rare news story from Canada on prime time T-V in the United States.
N-B-C Nightly News carried a three minute report last evening about the Highway of Heroes, the stretch of the 4-0-1 from Trenton to Toronto, which is used to carry the bodies of Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan.
The network interviewed firefighters who regularly line the bridges after a repatriation ceremony at Eight Wing, and also the mother of a soldier who was killed.
The report made note of the fact similar public ceremonies are not held in the U-S for American soldiers who die in Afghanistan.
