A Belleville youth is facing criminal charges after a police investigation into a harassment complaint.
On September 23, police began looking into reports that a local youth had been harassing another youth online. Police were told the suspect had been communicating with the victim via social media and text messages, with messages becoming more and more threatening over several weeks. Police also learned that the suspect had shared images of himself with a gun to threaten the victim.
As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, officers arrested a 16-year-old Belleville youth whose name cannot be published under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and criminal harassment.
He was held for a bail hearing.
