Thirteen-year-old lawn bowler Elise Kerr has made history at the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association (OLBA) Women’s Novice Singles Provincial Championship.
Competing over the weekend against a field of 16 top athletes in Belleville, Kerr delivered an outstanding performance to capture the bronze medal, becoming the youngest female athlete ever to win a medal at this prestigious event.
Kerr kicked off the tournament on Saturday morning with a dominant 18-5 victory in her opening match. She closed out day one of pool play with a stellar 18-9 win, bouncing back from a narrow 15-18 loss in her second match. Finishing 2-1 on Saturday, she secured her spot in Sunday’s single-elimination quarterfinal round. On Sunday morning, Elise faced a fierce opponent in the quarterfinals but dug deep to secure an 18-16 victory, earning her a spot in the semifinals. After a tough semifinal slip 13-18, she showed incredible resilience, bouncing back to win her final round match 18-9 and claim the bronze medal.
