Northumberland OPP have arrested a woman in connection to a historic sexual assault case.
On June 28, police received a report regarding historical sexual assaults which occurred between the summer months of 2024 and March 2026 at an address in the Township of Hamilton. The accused and victim were known to each other during the period in which the incidents are reported to have occurred.
The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit began an investigation into the incidents which resulted in one person being taken into custody on August 22.
A 20-year-old woman from Oshawa has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September. Police have not released her name to protect the identity of the victim.
