Correctional Service Canada says an inmate from Joyceville Institution’s Assessment Unit died while in custody, of apparent natural causes.
The CSC says the individual’s name has been anonymized in accordance with a court-ordered publication ban to protect the identity of the victim(s).
At the time of death, the inmate was 78 years old and had been serving a six-year sentence since August 1, 2024.
The inmate’s next of kin has been notified.
